Ohh My My!!!
How many restaurants are there, where you have a meal thrice a week and that too, over a year. And still, you are not tired for one more time, every time. Hardly any. Right?? But I am sure you can go wrong about Taza Thindi a jewel in south Bangalore.
It took me some time to experience Taza Thindi. In my usual office way, I saw seeing this usual crowded place with people is standing in a long queue all the time. I did some online search and to my surprise Taza Thindi is one of the highest rated restaurants i.e. 4.9 on Zomato. Believe me guys, people literally don’t stop raving about it, be it Facebook or Instagram. There are enormous blogs, case studies, vlogs and what not. It has truly taken Bangalore by storm.
“I am not a businessman, All I wanted to do was make good snacks affordable.” Referring to one interview, Mr. Gopady Srinivasa Rao a person behind establishing Yum Chain stated his vision in one statement.
True to his words, Taza Thindi stands tall if you compare price and value. While in a queue I noticed people are just pouring in. I had a word with some of them, and can you believe, an old gentleman next to me came from Malleshwaram (North side of Bangalore), and that too around 8:30 in the morning. No doubt there will be many such cases.
With open kitchen philosophy, first thing strikes you is hygiene at place. The place is situated right across the main street, easily noticeable with always on foodies. There is a tree just in front which definitely adds to decor and help with shadow in sunny afternoons. They have constructed concrete fixtures around the tree, and around restaurant which serves as a seating area. There are no dedicated seating facilities, and everyone hangs around the place. If you are lucky enough you can get a seat to enjoy your thindi. 😛
The place is comparatively small but you can notice the efforts put to be organized – the security guard, makes sure every customer follows the queue for purchasing the food coupons at the same time managing parking. Of course, it has self-service system.
They have a TV display, showing the founding members, Yum group companies (Cakewala, Esshanya) and health benefits of various food items.
Technology in Use:
Technology is changing everything, it is changing your education, the real estate then why not food.
It’s amazing to see how Taza Thindi has used technology to automate critical tasks, ensuring hygiene and quality at every step of the food chain. They have no human hands involved while preparing a batter ensures consistent taste and very fewer contamination chances. They have temperature-controlled fermentation rooms, and automated dishwashing (you can feel the hotness in dish and spoon). Their staff is dressed in headgears, gloves and face masks. These things give you surety and confidence that you are eating the right thing at the right place. These things are very rare in most Indian restaurants.
Taza Thindi means fresh breakfast. It stands tall to the meaning; they serve south Indian breakfast. Eating at Taza Thindi is no brainer. There is no time or lengthy menu to exercise something new and food adventure. The menu in place is really limited to around 10 dishes.
It serves typical masala dosa, Idli, Vada, Kesari bath, Khara bath, and filter coffee. Tasting all the items for the first time realized what this place is and why and how it became a common man’s delight and food lifeline in Bangalore.
My favorite being Vada, Masala dosa and top up with Coffee. You will find all the items are with very unique taste and to die for. I must say the dosa is one of the best you will find it here. Super crisp, a spoon of ghee and chutney along with dosa is the best thing you will have in Bangalore. Vada is another my favorite dish here and must have.
Even Kesari bath prepared in a lot of butter tastes awesome. Sometime they will have pineapple flavor added. Khara bath not a big fan but that doesn’t take away anything from Restaurant.
We have celebrated our lot of events and happy pals here and it doesn’t matter how many times we eat here, still Dil mange more.
Another thing needs to be mentioned here, the food taste is very good and they turn out a huge volume at unbelievable prices of Rs 10 per plate average. Masala dosa of Rs. 25 which was earlier for Rs. 20 before GST.
But Taza Thindi’s main USP is their automated preparation of batter to such level that hygiene is of top-notch with no human hands involved in the process. Came to know they use organic detergents in hot water dishwasher to clean the used plates and vessels.
With the stand-up dining and no formal sitting arrangement, their turnout is very fast that they can price it very economical with a thin margin but make it up in volume.
Taza thindi brings a great professional approach towards sort of street food but with a great degree of cleanliness and hygiene.
